iGen by Happipad: Inter-generational living opportunities to connect students and seniors

PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY OKANAGAN REGIONAL LIBRARY

ABSTRACT:
iGen by Happipad is a new service that will provide inter-generational living opportunities to student and senior residents in Kelowna. Inter-generational living is a housing model that allows students to live in the homes of seniors for below-market rent, in exchange for daily assistance with household chores. This housing model has gained popularity in Europe as a method to create affordable housing and to provide social benefits for youths and seniors. This service will be provided by Happipad, a Kelowna-based company whose mission is to provide new solutions and technology to improve the experience of housing and to build better communities. Happipad is now seeking senior homeowners above the age of 55 and UBC Okanagan students to participate in the launch of the project in May 2018.
